The Healers Café

Hi, it's Manon Bolliger (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) and I want to welcome you to the Healers Cafe. I am so excited to be doing this series of interviews and what I'll be doing is, is asking all kinds of healthcare practitioners, doctors, healers of all types, to really share with all of you their experience, why they became healers, what called them what they think about this being a healer thing. Is it, a thing? Who's really healing in this, what they've experienced from their their interaction with clients and patients and what the takeaways and understanding of what the process of healing is all about and the process of life. So that's the essence of what I'm doing. I'm hoping that this will serve also for patients that have issues and are looking for different ways of approaching it. * De-Registered, revoked & retired after 30+ years of practice. Now resourceful & resolved to share with you all the tools to take care of your health & vitality!

Highlights from today's episode include:

Dr Manon (32:21):

I felt like if I didn't have a solution when they had pain or that could help them, it's like a person in pain is going to find a solution for pain somewhere. And, being able to offer that it was like, the relationship could go much deeper because I could offer a solution for pain and I could then offer all the other things my other skills as a naturopathic physician and as a homeopath, other things could come in. But I was able to build it because they see that their pain was dealt with

Ramin Chemideh (37:06):

I registered to do the course.  I think one of the things you were not pushing or trying to sell . You were trying to understand me, very, very authentic. And I was touched by these qualities in you and general. I think there's something right about this. When I see these things in people that has developed this aspect of themselves. So I notice that one when I, when I first called Bowen therapy,

Ramin Chemideh (41:19):

And for sure something that I noticed when I was going to Burbank College is come to realize I might know many different modalities of healing, but I noticed that certain things, it takes time to mature. So I noticed Bowen therapy. Like if it's a written exam, I could sit down for one week, read the book and just memorize ,but when it comes to working with the practical aspects of it, certain things in life, it takes time. We have to accept that. We don't expect, we go there and just do it perfectly. We have to realize that through process to perfect, we move toward perfection by practicing. So be patient with yourself, be patient, if things doesn't work sometimes how you handle these things that doesn't work during your practice. It's more important to learn how to respond to this.

In this episode of The Healers Café, Dr. Manon Bolliger, ND, chats with Dr Manuj Nangia single father of three and CEO & Medical Director, healer, trainer.

Listen to the full story today! https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/Dr-Manuj-Nangia

Highlights from today's episode include:

Dr Manuj Nangia (02:22):

over the years I've been guided towards doing more medication management. I've decided to stick with taking insurance. And this is a dilemma with many doctors in most fields of medicine. Perhaps if not all that we have a limited time frame where we will get reimbursed for seeing clients !!!!after 20 minutes. We don't get much more reimbursement

Dr Manuj Nangia (15:15):

were getting sponsored by pharmaceutical companies and they were coming into our schools and giving us these lunches. And, you know, I think common sense showed me that there's, there's bias in how we're practicing. And there was not that much support on the therapy side and how much therapy was learned. It was very didactic versus experiential process learning.

Dr Manuj Nangia (31:53):

Most of my colleagues are not in network. So there would be cash and most of my colleagues who are therapists are not in network. So they would have to pay cash and you know, which gets expensive sometimes $600 an hour for a psychiatrist

Dr Manon (33:02):

That's the way it is. And you know, I think it's almost like if I'm going to see a therapist that takes insurance, I don't know what kind of quality, you know, therapies like are and how do I know how good they are. We don't really have outcome measures or track that. And so you know, it's kind of, that's that's the way the system is right now.

In this episode of The Healers Café, Dr. Manon Bolliger, ND, chats with Cheryl Furer, midwife, educator & healer.

Listen or read the full story today at  https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/cheryl-furer

Highlights from today's episode include:

Cheryl Furer (10:55):

I'm so I'm grateful that you, even with eight, authoritative opinions, you still went out and sought a midwife who said, I believe in your body, I believe in your ability to do this. And there's so much grace and empowerment in that because....... That's our model is that we believe normality.

Cheryl Furer (14:13):

Midwifery also became a target of the American medical association. And so the early 19 hundreds, they used anti-immigrant sediments racist sediments to start a propaganda campaign against midwives. And this campaign took about 50 years and in about 1950, they had pretty well eliminated most midwives out of most practices through legislation, through laws and through the media of the public, you know, making it seem like midwives were causing all these problems. When in all actuality midwives were serving their communities. Many black midwives were the ones who kept midwifery alive in this country. You know, from 1619 until until modern day. And honestly, the American medical association really did target, that population, which made women fearful of birth. And then they had go to the hospital and then the hospital practices, weren't all that great.

Cheryl Furer (40:28):

So often when I'm having conversations about who to invite to the birth. And so this includes your midwife. But sometimes people think, well, my parents or siblings, you know, what do we do think about people or that person, and if you could have an orgasm in front of them. So with your midwifery relationship, that trust develops over time, and you will know if that midwife, isn't the right one for you. We all have different personalities. And if you go to the interview and that person does not match with your personality, we don't hire them, go to another person, interview them, see how they match trust your gut, trust your instincts. And so if you're trying to decide whether to invite your mother or your mother in law, think about it. Could I have an orgasm in front of them?
