The Healers Café

Hi, it's Manon Bolliger (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) and I want to welcome you to the Healers Cafe. I am so excited to be doing this series of interviews and what I'll be doing is, is asking all kinds of healthcare practitioners, doctors, healers of all types, to really share with all of you their experience, why they became healers, what called them what they think about this being a healer thing. Is it, a thing? Who's really healing in this, what they've experienced from their their interaction with clients and patients and what the takeaways and understanding of what the process of healing is all about and the process of life. So that's the essence of what I'm doing. I'm hoping that this will serve also for patients that have issues and are looking for different ways of approaching it. * De-Registered, revoked & retired after 30+ years of practice. Now resourceful & resolved to share with you all the tools to take care of your health & vitality!

Vicki Roubekas 05:45

What I say about spirituality, and of course, so yes, it's separate, completely separate from religion. And to me, it's a philosophy it is, what is it for you? What is the philosophy for you? What is your own identity, definition of what you see spirituality for you? So that person has to identify it for themselves.

Vicki Roubekas

So, we're all connected energetically, we're all connected to the whole, not just to each other, but to the planet to the universe. And as a result, that means that you are tapping into this consciousness that is of the whole of the collective, and also tapping into a knowing an internal knowing that is a resonant to that whether that's your soul, your Higher Self, your internal state, your internal knowing.

Vicki Roubekas

as a result, spirituality becomes the seeking of the connection for you of what is physically, mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, right for you, personally

In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) with Lucinda Sykes about in these unstable times, society needs the full participation of Women 50+, and women need their best sleep!

For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/Lucinda-Sykes

Highlights from today's episode include:

Lucinda Sykes

We're not trying to change our experience. We're not trying to have a better experience, we are simply witnessing the experience without judging, and that is mindfulness. And oddly, some would say we are born into mindfulness, although it's not something that children do on purpose.

Lucinda Sykes

So, consciousness, mindfulness has an agency to it. And we bring mindfulness to our sleepless state. And often things transform, just because we're paying attention as well. Mindfulness can be a vehicle or a container, within which we can pop in and affirmation. Or we can pop in a mantra. Or we can do some mindful stretching, some breath, work and so on. And all contained within, within mindfulness.

Lucinda Sykes

It's often what's really disturbing us, in our sleeplessness is not the sleepless state ourselves itself, but rather the story we are making about the sleepless.

ABOUT LUCINDA SYKES:

Graduated medicine at University of Toronto 1997, then to family practice with a special focus on psychotherapy. In 1997, I established Meditation for Health clinic in Toronto. We taught medical programs of mindfulness to more than 6000 patients until COVID forced us to end in-person teaching in 2020. I retired from licensed medical practice this year, and I've begun a new direction as a sleep coach for Women 50+. I continue the & Joyful After 50; online outreach of Meditation for Health, with a blog and regular newsletter.   https://www.joyfulafter50.com/blog

Core purpose/passion: I find renewed purpose and mission in supporting the wellbeing of Women 50+ — alerting them to the risks of habitual sleep deprivation and sleeping pill dependence. Women have not been well-served by conventional medicine. In particular, they've been poorly informed about sleep self-care, and they've been put at serious risk with medicine's promotion of sleep medication.

In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) with Sandie Gascon a Certified Integrative Healing Practitioner.

For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/Sandie-Gascon

Highlights from today's episode include:

Sandie Gascon 03:46

Epigenetics is everything, we can definitely turn off, turn on and off genes to with our environment with the amount of stress we're going through. But what I found with people who have health issues, a lot of those genes are turned on. So, when we run our genetics, and we see different mutations, then we can really develop a plan with supplements.

Sandie Gascon 11:33

So, if you think about it, it can take a long time to heal your gut. A long time some people can take them one to two years to do work for the first time. Why would we not balance the brain right away if we're able to? Right. I can do it very, very quickly, and then the person will feel so much better. And if you do it the other way, it's very hard to heal the gut if your brain isn't balanced.

Sandie Gascon 14:59

So, can we detox heavy metals? Yes. Can we support the body and help it turn off autoimmune responses? Yes. Are we going to be able to fix everything that's happened? No, I don't think so. But we can definitely give the body a fighting chance as much as possible.

ABOUT SANDIE GASCON

After suffering severe side effects from medications during her twenty-year battle with chronic migraines, when she was diagnosed with Lupus she committed herself to healing naturally. Through her experiences, she developed a whole body, mind, and spirit approach that addresses the person in a truly holistic manner. She takes the guess work out of the equation by running functional lab work to see what the body needs. She healed herself of migraines, depression, lupus, interstitial cystitis, and cystic acne. Her purpose is to help educate others on the importance of shifting focus to rebuilding and rebalancing the body and removing internal and external stress so the body can heal itself.

Sandie lives in Ontario, Canada, for the summer and spends the winters in central Florida with her husband Eric and son Kaiden. She has a passion for riding horses and spends much of her free time at the barn with her horses Bee, Jack and Vala. She loves playing with Kaiden, spending time with family and friends and hiking with her dogs.

Core purpose/passion: My core purpose and mission is to help educate others on the importance of shifting focus to rebuilding and rebalancing the body and removing internal and external stress so the body can heal itself.

In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) with Dr. Laura M. Brown, ND about your physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual well-being are all involved when healing.

For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/dr-laura-m-brown-nd

Highlights from today's episode include:

Dr Laura M. Brown ND

Yes, digestion I mean, we need rest and digest. If we're always in fight or flight, or freeze, right, we're not digesting. So, and I argue that we not only have to digest our food, we have to digest the world around us.

Dr Laura M. Brown ND  11:46

It's so true. I mean, our digestion doesn't start when the food hits our stomach, it starts literally when thinking about it, what are we going to eat for dinner tonight, and then shopping for it, and then preparing it and cooking it and enjoying it, and just appreciating the textures and the colors and the aromas.

Dr Laura M. Brown ND

Nobody has the digestive enzymes to break down gluten. That's a fact. You know, it's a grain that is a fiber that we take in and it bypasses and goes down into the large intestine where it's fermented. And that's why it's such a good prebiotic, it's fermented and helps feed, but on the way down for those of us who are sensitive, it can damage the areas in the tracks and in the ducts up into the by the gallbladder and the pancreas kind of those areas there in the liver. And then it can also damage the small intestine as we know the villi in the small intestine.

ABOUT DR. LAURA M. BROWN, ND

Dr. Laura M. Brown, is a registered naturopathic doctor with a functional medicine approach. She recognizes patterns, removes obstacles and stimulates the body’s natural mechanisms to repair damage and rebuild health. She is owner of SOUTHEND Natural Medicine, a bestselling author of Beyond Digestion, a HeartMath Certified Practitioner, a level two Certified Gluten Free Practitioner and holds the designation of ADAPT Trained Practitioner from Kresser Institute, the only functional medicine and ancestral health training company.

Core purpose/passion: Practically, I am passionate about gut health and how it connects to the health of the rest of the mind, body and soul. I believe we must learn how not only to digest our food, but also the world around us. That means discerning what one needs to take -or not take in - and how to let go of what we are not meant to hold - physically, emotionally, spiritually.
