The Healers Café

Hi, it's Manon Bolliger (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) and I want to welcome you to the Healers Cafe. I am so excited to be doing this series of interviews and what I'll be doing is, is asking all kinds of healthcare practitioners, doctors, healers of all types, to really share with all of you their experience, why they became healers, what called them what they think about this being a healer thing. Is it, a thing? Who's really healing in this, what they've experienced from their their interaction with clients and patients and what the takeaways and understanding of what the process of healing is all about and the process of life. So that's the essence of what I'm doing. I'm hoping that this will serve also for patients that have issues and are looking for different ways of approaching it. * De-Registered, revoked & retired after 30+ years of practice. Now resourceful & resolved to share with you all the tools to take care of your health & vitality!

Highlights from today's episode include:

Constanza Roeder

having opportunities to externalize hard emotions that would otherwise get trapped in our bodies. Because when we're going through traumatic experiences, we can't usually verbalize what we're going through, at first, because a lot of those memories are encoded in and kind of this, the more subconscious part of our brain and the were more of our visual auditory processes are. And so, when we engage in visual arts, it can help us even for the first time, sometimes realize even what we're feeling, and then we can then verbalize it and reintegrate the brain

Constanza Roeder

I would listen to Mozart's Requiem on repeats, that was my jam, and I would cry, and I would get it out. And it made me feel less alone. Because here was this composer that was externalizing what I was feeling was verbalizing in the language of music. What I was feeling that I couldn't always say or maybe didn't have the tools to say so eloquently. But then now I'm hearing it reflected back at me. And then I'm like, oh, other people have felt this too. And so, you feel less alone.

Constanza Roeder  25:49

So, if we continue to treat humans like petri dishes, that they're not whole, complex human beings that have emotional, psychological, spiritual needs, our patient outcomes are going to continue to lag, we can have the best medicine in the world. But if a patient's brain is too on fire, because they're scared, and they feel lonely and disconnected, they're not going to be able to take advantage of all that technology.

I have always wanted to help others. I was a teacher for 20 years. I ended up hating my life, hating my job. Anxious to go to work, stressed about stressing. I went to my Bowen therapist for migraines and stress and gallstones; my gallbladder would later come out and she said, “you could do this” and that was the beginning for me. As soon as I had my first practical module, I knew that this is what I wanted to do. I then wanted more….. hypnotherapy came next. And this feels really natural to me. I love calming people down, relaxing them and “fixing” them. I facilitate a women’s once a month and I get so much from these.

In this episode of The Healers Café, Dr. Manon Bolliger ND (retired*) , talks with Anissa Young who is a Bowen therapist, hypnotherapist, mind and soul coach.

Highlights from today's episode include:

Anissa Young

So, the hypnotherapy and the Bowen therapy works so beautifully together. Because I mean, I know Bowen therapies designed to get you out of your fight and flight and back to your resting, relax, and repair. But hypnotherapy on top of that, like amplifies it, because they're already resting their mind, they're already in relaxation mode, mind and body before I even get them on the table. So even if I do a short, super short relaxation hypnotherapy session, I find that once they're on the table, they're already super relaxed

Anissa Young  08:49

I think because my hypnotherapist teacher said you know, once you find your therapy that works for you, you don't need anything else. You know, you don't need to look for...if hypnotherapy works for you, you do hypnotherapy. If Bowen therapy works for you do Bowen therapy. If you know chiropractic works for you, you do you go and take chiropractor. And I sort of thought well, but why aren't we mixing things? Like yeah, one thing can work for you 100% one thing can work for you. But what about if we if we did multiple things and we and we integrated them? You know how amazing would that be?

Anissa Young  13:58

I'm working even more on tapping into and helping the client to understand because half the time they don't understand that that's happening. And that could be what's happening. And that could be where, you know, it could be grief, it could be trauma, it could be physical trauma, it could be emotional trauma, and, and it's trapped in the body. It's been there for a long time, they've had this ongoing injury.

In this episode of The Healers Café, Dr. Manon Bolliger ND, talks with Nawale Ayar, a Cranio-Sacral Therapist & Vagus Nerve Certified and was uniquely trained in Biodynamic CST and Fascial unwinding, a Biomechanical form of CST.

For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/nawale-ayar

Highlights from today's episode include:

Nawale Ayar  05:11

I love that you asked about this, because it's not a condition that a lot of people talk about, and or are aware of, and you know, you can just faint in the morning or once in your life, and you get on with your life without even paying attention to it. But to some people, it can happen too many times in their lifetime, the reasons aren't really perfectly documented. In my case, because I had to become the investigator of my own crime scene. So, I discovered that things like gluten and dairy would precipitate an episode. And so, since I quit, that, it became a little less frequent. And then cranial sacral therapy with the vagus nerve work, sort of put a stop to that.

Nawale Ayar  09:08

What happened is sort of a little bit of a complex in between the sympathetic, the fight or flight system that usually people know it this way, and the parasympathetic, the rest and digest, and it feels like an alarm is set on inside the body. And then to respond to that the parasympathetic wants to calm down things really, really quickly. But both of them they clash, because it's like, trying to go really fast with your car and pressing the brakes at the same time. So, the only solution for the body is, you know, to collapse and to lay down on the floor. It's too extreme. It's too much and it happens in the blink of an eye.

Nawale Ayar  10:18

I'm really surprised that not everybody is somehow certified, you know, in the health field, in this nerve, because it's so important. What fascinates me is the mood change how somebody could think that they are depressed for the rest of their life and some vagus nerve manipulation, could change their mood to happiness, and everything would be lifted off, lifted off really quickly. This is shockingly impressive to me. These are the things that the vagus nerve can do. And on a physical, more physical and psychological level, I've experienced it myself from feeling sluggish, and you know, lacking energy to feeling like you can conquer the world then want to run a marathon the next day. It is this powerful.

BIO: Nawale Ayar

Nawale is a Cranio-Sacral Therapist & Vagus Nerve Certified. She received a 1 year comprehensive, extensive training at the first, largest & most established College of Cranio-Sacral Therapy in London, UK while completing her Anatomy-Physiology-Pathology Certification at Minerve in France. Nawale was uniquely trained in Biodynamic CST and Fascial unwinding, a Biomechanical form of CST.

Nawale is also one of the rare Certified Osteodouce Practitioners in North America; Osteodouce is an energetic osteopathy modality.

After a deeply transformative CST treatment Nawale registered to become a CST practitioner. And so, you can be assured that the therapy approach that she offers, she has received and benefited from herself.

Nawale is French bilingual and can treat from simple to severe aches & pains, complex and persistent health issues like: headache, back pain, brain fog, sciatica, endometriosis, physical & emotional blocks, shock & trauma, injuries, depression, anxiety, concussion, fibromyalgia, post-Covid symptoms, TMJ, fatigue, allergies, skin diseases, PMS, stress, IBS, birth trauma & more.

CST is safe for newborns, pregnant & laboring women.

Core purpose/passion: When I graduated in London, UK my teacher told us “Go heal the world” that deeply resonated with me. What is more satisfying that hearing someone who wasn’t well got better?? or is completely cured! Things like that bring tears to your eyes! What else is this life about? If you don’t have your health you have nothing.

In this episode of The Healers Café, Dr. Manon Bolliger ND, talks with Helen Dunne, Bowen Therapist.  Healing has to be holistic.  Treating one area makes no sense to me.  It would be like treating one area of water in a pool.

For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/helen-dunne

Highlights from today's episode include:

Helen Dunne

I always feel confident in my ability to deliver Bowen moves. And why I worded that way is that there's more, so I deliver the moves. But what goes on doesn't come from me, it's very much about the client, and at their level, so we were talking about personalities before and, you know, context and information and people. One thing I keenly observe is the personality of that person, whether I've met them before or not. And you know whether it's someone I know that I do a treatment on, I believe that their personality will determine their rate of receiving the moves, and how quickly or slowly their condition or ailment is resolved

Helen Dunne

But children are great to work on because my favorite answer from one of the children that I used to treat in Sydney was I feel different. And I thought what a perfect way to sum it up. You know, it is you do feel different. And I think why I like that. expected results, you know, if we take a Panadol, we supposedly have an operation to remove something that causes us a lot of pain, we tend to go through or use words that describe you know, how wonderful we feel. But I think feeling different also describes a fresh way of looking at our body.

Helen Dunne

Like there's, it's either doesn't take too much to make us uncomfortable or to feel pain. So, when Bowen eases that, or removes it. People don't necessarily, especially if it's a few days after they've sort of eased and they just think, oh, I feel good today. And they may not make the connection, especially if they're new to Bowen, to Bowen treatment. And I've had other Bowen practitioners talk about this, like one woman who was working on her daughter's feet. And her daughter had her graduation, and she wanted to wear high heels. And she said, Mom, these shoes are so comfortable. In the mother saying no, it's the Bowen therapy I did on your feet that allowed you to wear those shoes. And I thought that's a really good idea that stayed with me, because I think people are so keen to go I'm fine now and off, they go back into their lifestyles. And they may not be aware or attribute, perhaps to Bowen.

BIO: Helen Dunne

The first Bowen treatment I had didn't make sense to me as I had not experienced such a modality before and didn't understand how I was to relate to the treatment within my mind and body.  After 10 years of loving Bowen Therapy treatments  I asked the practitioner I went to about how it works to find out more.  That lead to doing the course with Margaret Spicer and becoming a practitioner myself.

Core purpose/passion: I'm passionate about all living things: people, flora and fauna, and the creative environment that living things can create to inspire and stimulate.  I enjoy growing some of my food, gardening, watching things grow, the art in nature - colour, texture, movement, form.  I love music that resonates with the heart and mind.
