The Healers Café

Hi, it's Manon Bolliger (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) and I want to welcome you to the Healers Cafe. I am so excited to be doing this series of interviews and what I'll be doing is, is asking all kinds of healthcare practitioners, doctors, healers of all types, to really share with all of you their experience, why they became healers, what called them what they think about this being a healer thing. Is it, a thing? Who's really healing in this, what they've experienced from their their interaction with clients and patients and what the takeaways and understanding of what the process of healing is all about and the process of life. So that's the essence of what I'm doing. I'm hoping that this will serve also for patients that have issues and are looking for different ways of approaching it. * De-Registered, revoked & retired after 30+ years of practice. Now resourceful & resolved to share with you all the tools to take care of your health & vitality!

Phil Steward 05:55

Yeah, I don't believe I heal anyone. I believe I help give the people a nudge so they can fix themselves, because everyone has the ability to sort themselves out, to fix themselves. And sometimes you just need to give them a nudge.

Phil Steward

Because, you know, you can release one area of the body a lot better when you've taken all primal restrictions that are attached to it away. Otherwise, you can just waste a load of time trying to release an area that's being held tight by everywhere else.

Phil Steward

You know, you can use simple analogies like I use the suspension bridge analogy for the Skeleton. Skeleton suspension bridge. Where a chiropractor and osteopath to try and crack the deck of the bridge, which is your skeleton back into place. Where I adjust all the cables, which are the soft tissue and if you adjust the cables, then you'll straighten the deck of the bridge up or a bike wheel and spokes in the same analogy.

In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) speaks with Lisa Sack, Āyurvedic Health Coach, a Somatic Movement Coach, and A Yoga Therapist

For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/lisa-sack

Highlights from today's episode include:

Lisa Sack

I feel like what I see more than anything is just the degree to which anxiety levels in general are amped up. And as you well know, the minute anxiety and stress has ramped up that is going to compromise immunity. So, I always feel like if we could get more people to deal with that, to actually feel when they've got that coursing of hormones through their bodies that are designed to make them run away or fight. That if they could manage that, it would change an awful lot of what's happening in their systems

Lisa Sack

I think I see it more in those terms, that getting people to really have the tools that they need to calm and soothe themselves will go a long way towards boosting their immunity.

Lisa Sack

it's why in some ways, I think the ancient practices are so attractive, because they've been around for 5000 years, and there's a huge body and I have respect for science, I have respect for, you know, the efforts to do clinical trials to prove things but, you know, just because you can't measure something doesn't mean it isn't there and isn't true.

ABOUT LISA SACK:

Lisa Sack, C-IAYT

E-RYT 500, Certified Yoga Therapist and Viniyoga™ Therapist, Āyurvedic Health Counselor, Student-in-Training of Hanna Somatic Education®, Certified Clinical Somatics Exercise Instructor

I was born and raised in NYC and currently live in Brooklyn with my partner of 30 years, our dog and 2 cats. We have 2 children in their mid-twenties, one of whom just graduated from college and is living at home. I had a very peripatetic life before coming to the healing arts–I studied Comparative Literature at Princeton, then studied in England, where I became a Licensiate of the Royal Academy of Music, I worked in theater and production management until my early 30s, then went back to graduate school at Columbia University for an MFA in creative writing. I married at 34 and was a geriatric mom–had my kids at 38 and 40, so my mid-40s were the time of juggling job, at that time, working for a medical marketing firm and parenting. Various factors brought me to my current profession as described below.

Core purpose/passion: What am I NOT passionate about, understand that from the Ayurvedic perspective, I have a great deal of fire in me, and fire is ALL about passion. I am passionate about helping others learn to live with ease, grace, and authenticity. I believe that everyone can change, and that everyone has the knowledge within them to find health, well-being, and contentment. All that’s required is to take one small step in the right direction, and then another, and then another. To paraphrase Carl Jung, we are not what’s happened to us We are what we choose to become.

For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/dr-debbie-smrz-nd

Highlights from today's episode include:

Dr. Debbie Smrz, ND  07:39

And we're definitely seeing an increase in in mental health issues, as well as information issues. More so I think than before, when it comes to the brain, you know, since 2020, people are just feeling discouraged. People are feeling overwhelmed. And people don't know what's going to happen next. You know what I feel like everyone's walking around with a when's the next shoe going to drop sort of feeling?

Dr. Debbie Smrz, ND  17:29

Why do you need the diagnosis? Why can't you just say, Yeah, you know, what, sometimes I have trouble focusing, and I'm kind of all over the place. That's just who I am. And isn't that great? Because I can get a lot of things done. Do you need the ADHD diagnosis?

Dr. Debbie Smrz, ND  22:13

And then it can kind of be a trap as well, because now you have it, that you have whatever this is, and I always especially if you've got to be talking about anxiety, I'll always say to people, no, you don't have anxiety. Anxiety comes to visit you sometimes. But let's take away this idea that this is who you are.

Well, you know, it's like when I teach and work with people, you know, pharmaceuticals are poison. There's no doubt about it, it's poison you put in your body, you know, and you know it will not heal, it will not correct the body, the only thing that works in the body that heals the body and gives the body health is good nutrition. And that's science, I'm not, that's not something I'm making up, you know.

Dr Lynn Anderson 27:46

Well, you know, as a naturopath, you know, our philosophy is that your body, mind and soul, and you need to have balance in all three of those you can't have, you can't go after the body, forget about the mind and the soul. You know, it's bringing them all together. Because when you have perfect balance in your physical, mental and soulful self, you can't help but have perfect health.

Nov 2, 2022

In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) speaks with Dr Gil Kajiki who specializes in treating various thyroid-related conditions, including Hashimoto’s Disease.

For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/dr-gil-kajiki

Highlights from today's episode include:

Dr. Gil Kajiki 03:39

So autoimmune, by its definition means your own immune system is attacking a body part. So, if your own immune system attacks your thyroid is called Hashimoto’s. If your own immune system attacks your joint is called rheumatoid arthritis, if your own immune system attacks your pancreas, it's called diabetes one. If your own immune system attacks your colon, they call that ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. So, it's your own immune system going haywire, for some reason, and then it starts attacking a body part.

Dr. Gil Kajiki

what I look for in every case is I look for these nine triggers. So, I look for anemia, blood sugar instability, adrenal gland dysfunction, hormone imbalance, inflammation, gastrointestinal problems, food sensitivities, hidden infections, and chemical sensitivities. So, I want to distinguish, is that a thyroid problem? Or is it a trigger problem?

Dr. Gil Kajiki 29:15

I'll tell you this, is that there's always an answer. Okay, you may not feel like it like when people say I've been everywhere. No, you haven't. You haven't been everywhere. Okay. Just because I don't know the answer. That doesn't mean there isn't one.

ABOUT DR GIL KAJIKI:

Dr. Gil Kajiki is the author of Sick, Tired, Untreated and Abandoned: How the Medical Community Fails Hashimoto’s Patients and How You Can Get Your Life Back.

He is a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, Chiropractor C.F.M.P., D.C. and patient educator with clients on 4 continents. His clientele include celebrities, corporate leaders, women stressed by family life and work, computer programmers, athletes, homemakers, radio show hosts, admin assistants, health practitioners and doctors. At the Valley Thyroid Institute, he and his staff are revolutionizing the way that hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s Autoimmune Thyroid are diagnosed and corrected using drug-free solutions

Through working with his patients he developed the Kajiki Protocol for determining thyroid and autoimmune issues with a particular concentration on Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.  He offers his patients answers and protocols to improve thyroid function and overall health.

His wife became ill with what at first appeared to be Epstein Barr. As he watched his wife’s health deteriorate under the care of several doctors, Dr. Kajiki began a relentless search for answers to why his healthy wife could become so ill and yet no one seemed to know how to care for her. After more than two years of tests, medication, B12 shots, and finally hospitalization, it was her husband and not her medical provider who came to her rescue.

After countless hours of study, consultation with colleagues, and testing, Dr. Kajiki diagnosed his wife with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, an autoimmune condition that attacks the thyroid. He spent the next several months treating her autoimmune condition through natural supplements, lifestyle modifications, and dietary changes. She is now symptom free and doesn’t take any thyroid medication.

Dr. Kajiki couldn’t stand to think that perhaps somebody else was having to go through the prolonged struggle with this condition as he and his wife had. Because of this experience, he dedicated his practice to helping Hashimoto’s and low thyroid patients overcome their symptoms naturally.

Dr. Kajiki still works from his office in Tarzana, California, however his patients are from countries and cities all across the globe—many as far away as Canada, Romania, London and New Zealand. He is available to his patients in person, via skype or phone. Dr. Kajiki also has more than 100 video testimonials of successful outcomes from happy patients that implemented his Low Thyroid Protocol and are thrilled to tell the world of their success.

Core purpose/passion: To educate people about their condition, and empower them with information and confidence that they can manage their auto-immune condition holistically and with non-drug therapies. Helping people get out of their desperation that Conventional Medicine ignored or didn't have an answer for them.
