what we gain from learning about the fact that remedies have different or opposite symptoms, is that they can have different grades in those symptoms. And so, the grade is a four out of possible five, for thirst. And yet, in the opposite symptom, it's a lower grade only, or one. So, the argument is much stronger for this remedy, because it has a higher grade.
Jonathan Damonte 16:01
So, we have all these different aspects of the symptoms. And these are all excellent and reliable symptoms. In fact, the highlighted ones are especially reliable. So, it makes your job in terms of determining what is the useful symptom for prescribing so simple.
Jonathan Damonte
Well, I mean, if I was a massage therapist, or chiropractor, or cranial sacral practitioner, I absolutely want to add homeopathy, because as you say, that emotional component that we are stuck in, physiologically is so easily worked through when you add homeopathy.
ABOUT JONATHAN DAMONTE:
Firstly, a Homeopath and then a Bowen Therapist, two modalities of alternative medicine. I have been in practice sine 1997 first as Classical Homeopath and from 2001 as a Bowen Therapist as well.
Born in London, England where he lived before moving to Toronto, Canada at the age of 18. Jonathan’s father, John Damonte was a Homeopath and respected teacher based in London. He taught many Homeopaths from 1962 till his death in 1975. Several of his students established schools of Homeopathy and he along wth Thomas Maugham founded the Royal Society of Homeopaths in the UK. Raymond Edge, a graduate of Misha Norland’s School of Devon, opened The School of Homeopathic Medicine in Toronto Canada in 1995. He became my teacher in turn, this was a wonderful connection to my father and his teachings. I’d known Misha while he studied with my father and I was always very fond of him as a child so the re-connection was quite wonderful.
Core purpose/passion: Health is all about freedom and in that context we must create the space for an individual to do so. Whether it's in the freeing of their patterns or in the freedom to choose a style of medicine.

In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) speaks with Dr. Robb Kelly, PhD
For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/Dr-Robb-Kelly
Highlights from today's episode include:
So, everything is going good. We got the wife back, just got in a great job, amazing, fantastic and then we self-sabotage…alcoholics and addicts for what they can see as no reason. Well, the reason is childhood trauma, and it's still stored, because we've got to deal with it.
that's what we do with trauma, it becomes our comfort zone, it becomes our buffer, even though I know it's painful, and it's going to be horrible. It becomes the only thing that I know, in times of trouble. So, the idea is, is to address that, to smash that box and make sure you can't get back in.
But right now, it's people often ask me, you know, what's the answer? And the answer is dialogue and education are relative because people don't understand that alcoholism is a disease, so is drug addiction and that it's a predisposition, we don't have a choice over this. So when we take our first drink, it sets up that cycle internally.
ABOUT DR. ROBB KELLY, PhD:
Dr. Robb Kelly, PhD is a sought-after recovery expert who believes in treating the causes of addiction and not the symptoms. Dr. Kelly has appeared on such shows as The Doctors, Eye Opener, Good Morning Texas, and Kens5 morning news. A frequent contributor to radio and print interviews including The Jim Bohannon show, Miracles in Recovery, USA Today, and participated in McLean Hospital’s & Harvard Medical School; study on the stigma associated with mental illness. Dr. Kelly hosted Sober Celebs show on KLIF radio in Dallas, and currently hosts the Breaking Through Addiction podcast featuring special guest discussing a variety of mental health issues.
Dr. Kelly created Let’s Get Back to 98% Recovery DVDs used in prisons and recovery treatment centers throughout the US. He has lectured on addiction and trauma at high-profile universities, national conferences, treatment facilities, public schools, churches, business organizations and hospitals. Dr Kelly is currently the CEO of the Robb Kelly Recovery Group, an addiction and mental illness recovery coaching company he created based on extensive research and behaviour studies that he conducted over the past 20 years. Dr. Kelly shares his personal highs and lows as he struggled and overcame crippling alcoholism in the November 2019 release of the book “Daddy, Daddy Please Stop Drinking”.

A disease is a label for the set of symptoms, the characteristic symptoms of an illness. Whereas for homeopath, a symptom is the expression of the individual's effort to maintain their health, and therefore, it's the expression of their disease, not the disease they have.
Jonathan Damonte 16:01
So, I just want to really say, is that homeopathy is a system of medicine, that buoys…that lifts your own vital healing ability. And therefore, the full resolution is still at play, rather than taking part of your symptom away, so that you just manage to get through but really healing. And what a wonderful way to support an immune system than to guide it rather than overloaded with super nutrients and nutraceuticals and such.
Jonathan Damonte
that became a compendium of symptoms that we would use in which to match the disease person who has those symptoms with a medicine that could produce those symptoms. Homeopathy meaning, similar suffering. So, the substance that can produce the problem is used to treat the problems.

Holly Howe So, a lot of people come for the gut health. And it definitely does make a huge difference because you're providing your gut microbiome, with the food it needs to keep healthy to ward off invaders to keep pathogenic bacteria at bay, etc. So, all these things around improve gut health. It also helps with energy levels and helps with your serotonin levels.
Holly Howe if you're having gut issues, generally, you want to start slow. Even sometimes people will start with just the brine. And then work your way up to one or two forkfuls a day with one or two meals. So, you can eat the whole jar if you have good digestive system. And it's really, we don't need all that it's a condiment, we want to look more for a variety of different fermented foods versus downing the jar sauerkraut in one day.

Janey Lee Grace
I used to justify myself well yeah, but the wine I have its good quality wine. It's organic wine. I mean I'm sorry but it's actually BS it really is. It’s all just toxic liquid is what it is. That's that that's the reality of it.
Janey Lee Grace
Well, number one, I'd always say do a minimum 30 days of not drinking at all first, then you can just reset everything. But number two, the top tips would be set your own parameters around when you are going to drink then so is it, I don't know, Wednesdays and Saturdays or whatever it is for you. Set your own parameters, but then add in another rule. And that rule is that you commit to never drinking, if you are upset, or fearful or angry or stressed.

I was born and raised in NYC and currently live in Brooklyn with my partner of 30 years, our dog and 2 cats. We have 2 children in their mid-twenties, one of whom just graduated from college and is living at home. I had a very peripatetic life before coming to the healing arts–I studied Comparative Literature at Princeton, then studied in England, where I became a Licensiate of the Royal Academy of Music, I worked in theater and production management until my early 30s, then went back to graduate school at Columbia University for an MFA in creative writing. I married at 34 and was a geriatric mom–had my kids at 38 and 40, so my mid-40s were the time of juggling job, at that time, working for a medical marketing firm and parenting. Various factors brought me to my current profession as described below.
Core purpose/passion: What am I NOT passionate about, understand that from the Ayurvedic perspective, I have a great deal of fire in me, and fire is ALL about passion. I am passionate about helping others learn to live with ease, grace, and authenticity. I believe that everyone can change, and that everyone has the knowledge within them to find health, well-being, and contentment. All that’s required is to take one small step in the right direction, and then another, and then another. To paraphrase Carl Jung, we are not what’s happened to us We are what we choose to become.

When you eat a fresh plant, a weed, what we call weeds is actually one of the most beneficial things that we can consume. They're not there just for weed killer. In fact, don't put weed killer on them, save them.
Silva Santé
If you are taking in some kind of herbs, keep fresh basil around all the time. That is actually adaptogenic herb. So, an adaptogenic is a plant that will go and find what's not balanced in your body and balance it for you. It's not complicated.
Silva Santé 16:14
Sage is excellent as well, but I would mostly suggest it for women who are menopausing, it does lower your body temperature. So, you might not want to take it if you have if you're already like chilly if you have a problem with being more cold and then I wouldn't use sage but I suggest sage all the time for my clients who are menopausal because it really does help with the hot flashes.

I think we have to be relentless. We have to keep speaking. Keep publishing, keep being there for all the people who want to learn about their own health and take it as they want to learn about how to take care of themselves, what is available to them naturally.
Sylvie Beljanski
So here we have a natural product which is going to help preserve bone marrow to do its own work without toxicity and therefore it means all the families of white blood cells are going to be created without any imbalance without growth factor and so on.
Sylvie Beljanski
So, when you have something that really really works, it finds its way one way or another. It is at some point recognized and therefore, never give up because it will eventually be recognized by good people with an open mind that will recognize the value of the science and give it a chance.
ABOUT SYLVIE BELJANSKI:
Sylvie Beljanski, a French lawyer by trade, is a health advocate for holistic medicine, public speaker, internationally known author and entrepreneur. She is the Founder and Executive Vice President of The Beljanski Foundation, whose mission is to research natural approaches to cancer. She is also the CEO of Maison Beljanski, an international dietary supplement company.
Ms. Beljanski is the award winning author of "Winning The War On Cancer: The Epic Journey Towards a Natural Cure". This book has helped propel Ms. Beljanski to be a sought-after speaker at health and wellness conferences globally, where she has educated thousands of people about scientific breakthroughs in the field of integrative medicine.
Core purpose/passion: The Beljanski Foundation’s mission is to sponsor research programs with various natural extracts recognized by Dr. Mirko Beljanski for their anticancer properties. Research has entailed programs on prostate cancer at Columbia University, including advanced prostate cancer that no longer responds to chemotherapy, as well as ovarian and pancreatic cancers at Kansas University Medical Center. All of these studies were completed using the same botanical extracts. They have been reported to be effective on both males and females and have also exhibited great synergy with a variety of chemotherapies. Research studies have proven that these same extracts are also effective against cancer stem cells, those cells deemed to be responsible for cancer relapse and metastasis. Passionate does not do justice for how driven I am to share the message about the effects and possibility for the extracts to save people’s lives. Cancer researchers are all pursuing different goals. Some want to have something approved by the FDA, some want to milk an old patent into a new one and provide a new life to an old, ineffective molecule, and some simply want to cure people. All of these goals are very different and it is difficult to imagine that they could work together. However, since a number of prestigious universities have published their results with several Beljanski extracts, I have seen increased interest from researchers at other institutions and I would love to see The Beljanski Foundation establish new partnerships across the board. There is still so much research to be done.

What I say about spirituality, and of course, so yes, it's separate, completely separate from religion. And to me, it's a philosophy it is, what is it for you? What is the philosophy for you? What is your own identity, definition of what you see spirituality for you? So that person has to identify it for themselves.
Vicki Roubekas
So, we're all connected energetically, we're all connected to the whole, not just to each other, but to the planet to the universe. And as a result, that means that you are tapping into this consciousness that is of the whole of the collective, and also tapping into a knowing an internal knowing that is a resonant to that whether that's your soul, your Higher Self, your internal state, your internal knowing.
Vicki Roubekas
as a result, spirituality becomes the seeking of the connection for you of what is physically, mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, right for you, personally

In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) with Lucinda Sykes about in these unstable times, society needs the full participation of Women 50+, and women need their best sleep!

We're not trying to change our experience. We're not trying to have a better experience, we are simply witnessing the experience without judging, and that is mindfulness. And oddly, some would say we are born into mindfulness, although it's not something that children do on purpose.
Lucinda Sykes
So, consciousness, mindfulness has an agency to it. And we bring mindfulness to our sleepless state. And often things transform, just because we're paying attention as well. Mindfulness can be a vehicle or a container, within which we can pop in and affirmation. Or we can pop in a mantra. Or we can do some mindful stretching, some breath, work and so on. And all contained within, within mindfulness.
Lucinda Sykes
It's often what's really disturbing us, in our sleeplessness is not the sleepless state ourselves itself, but rather the story we are making about the sleepless.
ABOUT LUCINDA SYKES:
Graduated medicine at University of Toronto 1997, then to family practice with a special focus on psychotherapy. In 1997, I established Meditation for Health clinic in Toronto. We taught medical programs of mindfulness to more than 6000 patients until COVID forced us to end in-person teaching in 2020. I retired from licensed medical practice this year, and I've begun a new direction as a sleep coach for Women 50+. I continue the & Joyful After 50; online outreach of Meditation for Health, with a blog and regular newsletter. https://www.joyfulafter50.com/blog
Core purpose/passion: I find renewed purpose and mission in supporting the wellbeing of Women 50+ — alerting them to the risks of habitual sleep deprivation and sleeping pill dependence. Women have not been well-served by conventional medicine. In particular, they've been poorly informed about sleep self-care, and they've been put at serious risk with medicine's promotion of sleep medication.

Epigenetics is everything, we can definitely turn off, turn on and off genes to with our environment with the amount of stress we're going through. But what I found with people who have health issues, a lot of those genes are turned on. So, when we run our genetics, and we see different mutations, then we can really develop a plan with supplements.
Sandie Gascon 11:33
So, if you think about it, it can take a long time to heal your gut. A long time some people can take them one to two years to do work for the first time. Why would we not balance the brain right away if we're able to? Right. I can do it very, very quickly, and then the person will feel so much better. And if you do it the other way, it's very hard to heal the gut if your brain isn't balanced.
Sandie Gascon 14:59
So, can we detox heavy metals? Yes. Can we support the body and help it turn off autoimmune responses? Yes. Are we going to be able to fix everything that's happened? No, I don't think so. But we can definitely give the body a fighting chance as much as possible.
ABOUT SANDIE GASCON
After suffering severe side effects from medications during her twenty-year battle with chronic migraines, when she was diagnosed with Lupus she committed herself to healing naturally. Through her experiences, she developed a whole body, mind, and spirit approach that addresses the person in a truly holistic manner. Her purpose is to help educate others on the importance of shifting focus to rebuilding and rebalancing the body and removing internal and external stress so the body can heal itself.

Yes, digestion I mean, we need rest and digest. If we're always in fight or flight, or freeze, right, we're not digesting. So, and I argue that we not only have to digest our food, we have to digest the world around us.
Dr Laura M. Brown ND 11:46
It's so true. I mean, our digestion doesn't start when the food hits our stomach, it starts literally when thinking about it, what are we going to eat for dinner tonight, and then shopping for it, and then preparing it and cooking it and enjoying it, and just appreciating the textures and the colors and the aromas.
Dr Laura M. Brown ND
Nobody has the digestive enzymes to break down gluten. That's a fact. You know, it's a grain that is a fiber that we take in and it bypasses and goes down into the large intestine where it's fermented. And that's why it's such a good prebiotic, it's fermented and helps feed, but on the way down for those of us who are sensitive, it can damage the areas in the tracks and in the ducts up into the by the gallbladder and the pancreas kind of those areas there in the liver. And then it can also damage the small intestine as we know the villi in the small intestine.
ABOUT DR. LAURA M. BROWN, ND
Dr. Laura M. Brown, is a registered naturopathic doctor with a functional medicine approach. She recognizes patterns, removes obstacles and stimulates the body’s natural mechanisms to repair damage and rebuild health. She is owner of SOUTHEND Natural Medicine, a bestselling author of Beyond Digestion, a HeartMath Certified Practitioner, a level two Certified Gluten Free Practitioner and holds the designation of ADAPT Trained Practitioner from Kresser Institute, the only functional medicine and ancestral health training company.
Core purpose/passion: Practically, I am passionate about gut health and how it connects to the health of the rest of the mind, body and soul. I believe we must learn how not only to digest our food, but also the world around us. That means discerning what one needs to take -or not take in - and how to let go of what we are not meant to hold - physically, emotionally, spiritually.
