The Healers Café

Hi, it's Manon Bolliger (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) and I want to welcome you to the Healers Cafe. I am so excited to be doing this series of interviews and what I'll be doing is, is asking all kinds of healthcare practitioners, doctors, healers of all types, to really share with all of you their experience, why they became healers, what called them what they think about this being a healer thing. Is it, a thing? Who's really healing in this, what they've experienced from their their interaction with clients and patients and what the takeaways and understanding of what the process of healing is all about and the process of life. So that's the essence of what I'm doing. I'm hoping that this will serve also for patients that have issues and are looking for different ways of approaching it. * De-Registered, revoked & retired after 30+ years of practice. Now resourceful & resolved to share with you all the tools to take care of your health & vitality!

In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger, FCAH, RBHT (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) chats with Kimberly Evering about the opportunity for everyone to do yoga no matter their fitness level or body type.

Highlights from today's episode include:

Kimberly Evering  02:59

I think it was because I loved how it was like empowering, like the poses are very bold, and it doesn't matter what your like body type is. You can, you know, find a way into a pose that works for your body. So it's such an inclusive form of fitness.

Kimberly Evering  21:01

Like, I kind of used to think that energy was not so impactful, and that it was kind of just this thing, but it wasn't concrete. But what I've learned from all the different crowds, and all the different types of people that show up is that energy is real energy.

Kimberly Evering

What I feel to be very comforting is place one hand on your heart, and one hand on your belly. And close your eyes for just a moment. And with your mouth closed, you take a nice deep inhale through your nose pause at the top and release that breath for a count of three.

In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger, FCAH, RBHT (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) chats with Amber McPhail about her experience in combining Bowen Therapy with Homeopathy for amazing results in her clients.

For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/amber-mcphail

Highlights from today's episode include:

Amber McPhail

It turns out two big modalities really seemed to push the needle the most, and that was homeopathy, and Bowen Therapy.

Amber McPhail  09:56

And even in the midst of the depression diagnosed, just the cool thing about the homeopathy is, it cured me. I never have struggled with that, again, that's not my story part of my story anymore. And that is what is possible.

Manon Bolliger  17:09

I do think the listening piece is huge, because often, that's what starts the trust relationship, and the acknowledgement of what's going on. And then, you know, the responsibility that actually, you know, one can make a difference in one's own life by making certain decisions and choices. So, it kind of starts everything

ABOUT AMBER MCPHAIL:

I’m Amber, a 26 yr old New Zealander who’s moved to BC to study to become a Naturopathic Doctor.

My biggest joys in life are nature, hiking, swimming, observing wild life, but also making art from nature, and helping people thrive and find authenticity through nature too!

Core purpose/passion: I’m grossly passionate about first, being the facilitator that aids the removal of pain and suffering. a bit typical and uninspired

But with tattooing, homeopathy, and now Bowen.. more and more I’m loving pouring energy into powerful people who also are in service of others. I don’t like to waste my energy on those who don’t fully receive or align, I mostly provide service to those who are going to continue to spread healing and vitality. Those who do - aiding in the journey of self-discovery and self-authenticity is wildly thrilling to me.

I also can’t wait to learn how to treat animals with Bowen therapy - animals still have my heart the most

In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger, FCAH, RBHT (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) speaks with Deana Tsiapalis about her experience in training people’s bodies to feel safe and relive pain.

For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/deana-tsiapalis

Highlights from today's episode include:

Deana Tsiapalis  02:48

There's a real disbelief when they see someone who's smiling and, you know, carrying on with life doing their best to carry on with life, that they're fine, that they can get up and walk and why do they need that handicap parking spot? You know, there is that real uneducatedness about our society or unawareness from our society around chronic pain.

Deana Tsiapalis

Or is it because we now know that perhaps you experienced acute trauma or chronic trauma, when you were a child. Perhaps there is a lot of stress in your life currently, that is leading to more pain, perhaps you're in a relationship that's not as secure, perhaps, you know, financially, you're struggling. I mean, there's everything matters when it comes to chronic pain.

Manon Bolliger  11:31

If you start working as if the trauma wasn't there, their body is not ready for it. You have to have therapies that address actually the trauma.

ABOUT DEANA TSIAPALIS:

Deana studied both Physical health, education and lifestyle management at the University of Toronto and George Brown College. She is also a certified  Wellness coach through the American College Of Sports Medicine. Deana is the founder, the head pain coach, and chief curator at Pain 2 Possibilities and the Change Pain Academy. She also is the host of The Chronic Pain Experience; podcast that focuses on conversations about chronic pain management, the chronic pain experience and interviews with experts to inspire, motivate and improve your lived experience with pain.

After watching her mothers lived experience with undiagnosed ADHD, post polio syndrome and celiacs disease & which resulted in an early death; along with her husbands experience of living much of his early years with an undiagnosed rare metabolic disorder Deana grew to understand the challenges of those who live with invisible chronic conditions….being misunderstood, not believed, labelled as slow or lazy, being told that everything ‘looks fine’ after testing….that what they experience on a daily basis must all be in their head. As a pain coach,  Deana along with the chronic pain community, witness first hand how chronic pain care is truly broken.

Through all of this Deana has learned that all chronic health, all chronic pain is indeed biological, psychological and social in nature and this is just not being shared with the chronic pain community….even though there is 12 years of solid research to back it up. So she got to work and created a unique space exclusively for the chronic pain community to bridge the gap between physician care and the pain warrior with self care management through pain education, coaching, community and peer mentorship. Exactly the sort of model she wished she could find when her parents and husband needed guidance.

Core purpose/passion: My mission is to help those who suffer with chronic pain learn to manage pain beyond the procedures and medications. I provide coaching, support and mentorship as well as teaching advanced self-care management techniques to help the chronic pain community regain control and improve their quality of life.

Apr 3, 2024

In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger, FCAH, RBHT (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) speaks with Alison Bladh about her work as a nutritionist to ease perimenopause and menopause symptoms naturally.

For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/alison-bladh

Highlights from today's episode include:

Alison Bladh

And I think also, you know, women as we age, people don't want to talk about aging. We want to remain young forever, which is ridiculous, because that isn't how the body works is it? And I just think that women don't want to talk about it or nobody wants to talk about it because it has this negativity attached to it.

Alison Bladh

A key thing that we really want to focus on is blood sugar management. So making sure that your blood sugar is stable. And you can do that quite well by avoiding ultra processed, highly refined sugary foods. They're not beneficial for health, they shoot your blood sugar up, and it's been shown in research if you've, if you're eating a high sugar diet, that it can stimulate menopausal symptoms.

Manon Bolliger  24:34

I think it's just also taking that time to honor oneself, even to look at what are we saying yes to and what are we not saying no to can really have a big impact on stress just to become very conscious about each step that we're taking.

ABOUT ALISON BLADH

Alison Bladh is a registered nutritional therapist and beauty therapist. She has worked in the health and wellness industry of over 30 years specializing in menopausal women’s health she now runs her own clinic helping women worldwide manage the negative symptoms of menopause. Her mission is to support her clients with bespoke changes to diet, health, mindset and lifestyle so they can harness their hormones and get their confidence and sparkle back.

She believes that all women, no matter what age, deserve to reclaim their health and feel great. Life is too short to suffer symptoms that hold you back! Every woman has the right to feel and look amazing in midlife.

She supports time-poor, busy midlife women who are stressed, depressed, gained weight, and have lost their confidence amongst other things!

When not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, being in the kitchen and experimenting with new recipe ideas. She is also a keen scuba diver, golfer, hiker, beekeeper and enjoys being in the great outdoors.

Core purpose/passion: My core purpose and mission revolve around empowering women to live a life full of vitality and to thrive through the next chapters of their lives.
